Weeeeeeeeeeee're Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

It's been far too long since I've done this, so let's kick off the 2009 RMFFL Season in style. With the Super Bowl in the books, it's time for the RMFFL (and NFL) to get back into the swing of things.

As everyone know it's free agent season in the NFL and if anyone needs to keep a breast of the latest happenings in the NFL I suggest going to NFL.com or SI.com as they have the best and most comprehensive news and views (and their fantasy staff is pretty good too). Some RMFFL News before I head into the NFL stuff.

So last fall we all remember a trade that was made between the Green Bastards and Hirsch's Hitmen? In case you don't here is a refresher. Hirsch's Hitmen traded Kurt Warner to the Green Bastards for Leon Washington and they agreed to swap draft picks to be decided at a later date. Well that later date is here and the Green Bastards have sent a 3rd round draft choice to Hirsch's Hitmen in exchange for their 5th round choice.

On to the NFL free agent/trade news. Some major shakeups happened recently and here are some that have fantasy relevancy.

  • Matt Cassel was traded from the New England Patriots to the Kansas City Chiefs
  • Kellen Winslow was dealt from the Cleveland Browns to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Correll Buckhalter and J.J. Arrington were signed by the Denver Broncos (this is only relevant since Denver churns out 1,000 yard RBs like the Rumour Mill churns out rumours)
  • Impact Player (or is it Donfin?) favourite Sage Rosenfels was traded from the Houston Texans to the Minnesota Vikings
  • Fred Taylor was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars and signed with the New England Patriots
  • Marvin Harrison was released by the Indianapolis Colts
  • Joey Galloway and Warrick Dunn were released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
So far that are all the big names (or teams) that have made moves so far in the off-season. Word of advice to all, keep your eye out for roster moves. Little moves in February and March have been known to become big moves in November and December (Wes Welker, anyone?).

I hope this little update has whetted everyone's appetites. Expect at least weekly updates on all the goings on in the RMFFL (and NFL).
