Weekly Wrap (Week 11): Change We Can Believe In
We are in virgin territory here. This is the first edition of the Weekly Wrap that is getting the blog treatment. I hope everyone has enjoyed the blog so far. In the weeks, months and years to come rmffl.blogspot.com will get bigger and better.
The trade deadline has passed and it was a quiet one. But that doesn't mean this wasn't a week to remember. Week 11 results will go a long way to determining who plays where in Weeks 14 and 15. With that said, here are the final scores for Week 11 in the RMFFL.
Hawaiian Punch - 83
Team Gonzo - 80
That was a HUGE win for Hawaiian Punch. They had lost 4 straight, and a 5th would have put them in a very precarious situation. As big as the win for Hawaiian Punch was, this was a grueling loss for Team Gonzo. They still have a good chance to make the playoffs, and even win the RMFFL Outhouse Division, but the road is much more difficult now.
Impact Players - 91
Hirsch's Hitmen - 80
The Impact Players take out Hirsch's Hitmen in a game with little on the line but pride. The Impact Players victory did little other than put doubt in the mind of Hirsch's Hitmen should they meet in Bedpan Bowl IV.
Green Bastards - 83
Brit Favreits - 92
In the first ever meeting between the Brit Favreits and Green Bastards the W went to the Brit Favreits. The loss by the Green Bastards puts them the uncomfortable position of having to possibly rely on others in order to make the playoffs. The win by the Brit Favreits puts them in the catbird seat in regards to winning their first division title.
Kelly's Heroes - 95
Donfins - 75
This was a GIGANTIC win for Kelly's Heroes. Not only does it stretch their winning streak to a record 7 games, it puts them on the path to their second consecutive playoff appearance. The loss by the Donfins doesn't kill their chances at the playoffs, but it does hurt them. The RMFFL Outhouse Division title is likely out of reach, but a playoff spot is still a realistic hope.
The Co-players of the Week for Week 11 are..................Kelly's Heroes QB Peyton Manning & Donfins RB DeAngelo Williams.

Both players scored 24 points, but Manning's performance was key in Kelly's Heroes victory over the Donfins.

With only two weeks left, those that see themselves in 1st or 2nd place need only to win out to reach the playoffs. Those in 3rd will need wins and help, while those in 4th know they will be competing for the Bedpan and the #1 Overall pick in the 2009 RMFFL Draft. Here are the RMFFL Standings after Week 11.
Penthouse
1. Hawaiian Punch 7-4-0, 1100 pts
2. Kelly's Heroes 7-4-0, 928 pts
3. Green Bastards 6-5-0, 982 pts
x-4. Impact Players 3-8-0, 956 pts
Outhouse
1. Brit Favreits 7-4-0, 1063 pts
2. Team Gonzo 6-5-0, 967 pts
3. Donfins 6-5-0, 916 pts
x-4. Hirsch's Hitmen 2-9-0, 795
We now have a two-way tie for first in the RMFFL Penthouse Division. Hawaiian Punch and Kelly's Heroes each have a one game lead over the Green Bastards. The Green Bastards are now in real danger of missing the playoffs for the first time in RMFFL history. An RMFFL playoff season with the Green Bastards would be like an NFL playoff season without the Indianapolis Colts. I would remiss if I didn't point out the resurrection that has happened with Kelly's Heroes. They began the season at 0-4-0 and now have a chance to win their second consecutive division title (they were the 2007 RMFFL Outhouse Division Champions). In the RMFFL Outhouse Division, the Brit Favreits victory, coupled with the Team Gonzo and Donfins losses, has put them on track to take the division crown.

With only 2 weeks left, and the 6 teams still viable playoff contenders, these games take on added significance. Here is the Week 12 Schedule in the RMFFL.
Impact Players vs. Green Bastards
The Impact Players could make history by finally defeating their chief rival, the Green Bastards. Not only would they win for the first time ever (they are currently 0-9-0 all-time), but they would put the penultimate nail in the Green Bastards playoff coffin.
Hawaiian Punch vs. Kelly's Heroes
Could the Hawaiian Punch/Kelly's Heroes match-up have any more significance? These two teams are tied for first and whoever wins would all but secure a playoff spot. In fact if the Impact Players manage to defeat the Green Bastards then the winner of this game will be guaranteed a playoff birth. Guess we know who these two teams will be cheering for, eh?
Hirsch's Hitmen vs. Brit Favreits
If the Brit Favreits manage to defeat Hirsch's Hitmen they will be assured of a playoff birth, no matter the outcome of any other game. A win will give them 8 wins and would assure them of finishing no lower than 2nd in the RMFFL Outhouse Division. This would be the first playoff appearance for the Brit Favreits. History could be made in Week 12 if the 1st place Brit Favreits can defeat the 4th place Hirsch's Hitmen.
Donfins vs. Team Gonzo
This could be the biggest game of the week. Neither team will be eliminated from playoff contention with a loss, but they would need help to get in. These two teams have identical 6-5-0 records so the winner will only need a win in Week 13 to get into the playoffs. A loss, while not crippling, would all but spell the end of the MexiCup hopes for the loser. Safe to say that this game is HUGE.

Another week, another Thursday Night Game. This week the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Cincinnati Bengals. So if you have Steelers or Bengals and want to play them, get them in your lineup. If you have them in and don't want to play them, take them out. There was some confusion on this last week; if the player is currently in your starting lineup and you DON'T want to play him, then he must be deactivated prior to kickoff. If the game starts and the player has not been removed he is considered active and therefore cannot be taken out when the rest of your lineup is due on Sunday. I hope this clears up any confusion.
I hope everyone has enjoyed the inaugural week of the blog and inaugural Weekly Wrap on the blog. So far this has been a great experience for me and I hope the everyone else can say the same.
That's all for this week. Enjoy Week 12 in the RMFFL.

Week 11: Kelly's Heroes vs. Donfins
Two teams that have a tremendous amount of respect for each other battle to keep their playoff hopes alive when Kelly's Heroes take on the Donfins. Kelly's Heroes have pulled off the near impossible feat of going from 0-4-0 to 6-4-0. The six straight wins by Kelly's Heroes have catapulted them to within striking distance of the RMFFL Penthouse Division title. The Donfins have been a very difficult team to figure out. Some weeks they show up and blow teams out, like they did in Week 10. In other weeks they stink out the joint, like they did in Week 1. Even with their schizophrenic ways the Donfins still have a chance to make the playoffs and win the RMFFL Outhouse Division title. Look for these two proud franchises to put on a terrific performance.

Week 11: Green Bastards vs. Brit Favreits
This Week 11 match-up could be a Mexico Bowl IV preview. Both these teams are in the thick of the playoffs race and each harbour championship aspirations. The Green Bastards made a huge move this week in acquiring Kurt Warner (QB, Arizona Cardinals). Warner gives the Green Bastards some stability at the QB position. The Brit Favreits have put together a very impressive inaugural season in the RMFFL. Many pundits believed this to be the weakest team in the RMFFL back in August, but the Brit Favreits are currently on track to capture their first division title. These two teams should put on a great show.

Week 11: Impact Players vs. Hirsch's Hitmen
The understatement of the year might be that these two teams just don't like one another. Both teams will meet 3 times next season as they will both be members of the RMFFL Outhouse Division. The Impact Players, even while only winning 2 games so far this season, have been as competitive a team as any in the RMFFL. Hirsch's Hitmen are in the midst of transforming their team. They are shedding themselves of veteran players (as seen in the Kurt Warner trade) in the hopes of getting younger. Both the Impact Players and Hirsch's Hitmen have their eyes on next season, but this game should still be a great one because of the hate between these two franchises.

Week 11: Hawaiian Punch vs. Team Gonzo
In a match-up of two 6-4-0 squads, Hawaiian Punch looks to end a 4-game losing streak when they take on Team Gonzo. Team Gonzo have been an up-and-down team all season, but they have been a tough match-up most weeks and this one looks to be no different. Both teams need a win to stay on pace with the other teams in their divisions. This should be an intriguing game.
