Bastards Get Tougher on D, Add Rookie

The Green Bastards have made what is likely the final roster move of the RMFFL season. The Mexico Bowl IV bound Green Bastards have signed RB Ray Rice and the Pittsburgh Steelers defense. To make the room the Green Bastards have decided to release RB Fred Taylor and the Carolina Panthers defense.

Hitmen Tweak Roster

Hirsch's Hitmen have signed RBs Justin Fargas and Le'Ron McClain as well as QB Matt Cassel. To make the necessary room Hirsch's Hitmen have parted ways with RBs Peyton Hillis (yes the same Peyton Hillis who was signed not to long ago and was subsequently injured in his first start for Hirsch's Hitmen) and Ray Rice as well as WR Laveranues Coles.

Weekly Wrap: Playoff Edition

What can I say? It's been decided. We know the Mexico Bowl IV and Bedpan Bowl IV participants. We know the 4 teams whose hearts were broken and will playing for better draft position, but no trophy. A wild, wild season will end next week. Without further adieu here are the scores for each of the playoff matchups.

Penthouse Division Championship
Green Bastards - 109
Hawaiian Punch - 88
The Champ has been defeated. There will be no repeat for Hawaiian Punch after they succumbed to the dreaded Curse of the Division Champion and lost their playoff game to the Green Bastards. The Green Bastards will be heading back to the Mexico Bowl for the first time since their Mexico Bowl II triumph over the Donfins. Kudos to Hawaiian Punch on an awesome season. Congratulations to the Green Bastards for making it back to the Mexico Bowl.

Outhouse Division Championship
Brit Favreits - 81
Donfins - 97
The Curse of the Division Winner has been broken. The Donfins will be returning to the Mexico Bowl for the 3rd time. The Donfins started off slow and then turned it on to end the season and will now be looking to break they own Mexico Bowl curse. In their two previous trips to the title game they lost both times (2005 to the Impact Players; 2006 to the Green Bastards). Even in defeat the Brit Favreits have nothing to be upset about. They took a franchise that literally no one wanted and turned it into one of the premier franchises in the RMFFL.

Penthouse Bedpan Championship
Kelly's Heroes - 115
Impact Players - 81
Kelly's Heroes is returning to the scene of their greatest triumph: the Bedpan Bowl. Kelly's Heroes, who are still reeling after their beloved QB Peyton Manning screwed the pooch in Week 13 and cost them a playoff spot, will be playing for their 3rd Bedpan in 4 seasons. For the Impact Players this is a fitting end to a very disappointing season. But they should keep their heads high because I believe that the 2008 season will be seen as nothing more than a stumbling block for what I think will be a great team for years to come. But all is not gloom and doom for the Impact Players. They will get a chance next week to secure the 3rd Overall Pick in the 2009 RMFFL Draft.

Outhouse Bedpan Championship
Team Gonzo - 104
Hirsch's Hitmen - 69
Team Gonzo, much like Kelly's Heroes, will be making their 3rd trip to the Bedpan Bowl after easily dispatching of Hirsch's Hitmen. In fact this is the 3rd consecutive season that Team Gonzo has made the Bedpan Bowl which is a pretty ignominious distinction. It has been a tough year for Hirsch's Hitmen. While Hirsch's Hitmen have been known to turn up the intensity during Bedpan games, this was clearly the worst team that Hirsch's Hitmen ever fielded so to see them lose is not all that surprising. In what has been a year to forget for Hirsch's Hitmen they still have a chance to secure the 3rd Overall Pick and that is nothing to sneeze at.

So after all of that we have our Championship Week games all set.

Mexico Bowl IV
Green Bastards (Penthouse, 7-6) vs. Donfins (Outhouse, 8-5)
The Green Bastards will be looking to do what no other RMFFL franchise has ever done and that is win a 2nd MexiCup. Having won Mexico Bowl II in 2006 (thanks in large part to LaDainian Tomlinson's record-breaking season) they will look regain what they believe to be their birthright. The Donfins traveled a long and winding road to get to the title game. They opened the season with a poor performance that looked to be a harbinger of things to come. However they quickly turned things around and became not just a legitimate threat, but possibly the legitimate threat in the RMFFL. This game has so many storylines that I can't even keep track of them all. This season these two teams met in Week 3 with the Donfins winning 78-70. These two teams were very different back then. The most intriguing storyline going into the 4th Mexico Bowl is that these two teams met 2 seasons ago for the championship with the Green Bastards winning 114-78. The Donfins will be looking for revenge, while the Green Bastards will be looking to secure their legacy. These two teams have a tremendous amount of respect for one another and both are going to scratch and claw to get their paws on the MexiCup. Mexico Bowl IV couldn't have a better matchup.

Bedpan Bowl IV
Kelly's Heroes (Penthouse, 7-6) vs. Team Gonzo (Outhouse, 7-6)
For Kelly's Heroes this is a small consolation for what they thought would be a championship-caliber season. Team Gonzo look to capture their 2nd Bedpan, in fact so do Kelly's Heroes. History will be made in this game as no matter who wins someone will be a 2-time Bedpan Bowl champion. This game is also interesting as it is a rematch of Bedpan Bowl II which Team Gonzo won 73-45 (a Bedpan Bowl score if there ever was one). In the lone game between these two franchises that took place in Week 10 Kelly's Heroes pasted Team Gonzo 120-84. With all this history between these two teams, expect a great game in Bedpan Bowl IV.

3rd Place
Hawaiian Punch (Penthouse, 8-5) vs. Brit Favreits (Outhouse, 7-6)
This is a disappointing end to a great season for Hawaiian Punch. They began the 2008 season by going 6-0 and seemed destined for a 2nd consecutive title. Along the way to the parade they hit a speed bump and stumbled towards the finish line. The plight of the Brit Favreits was somewhat similar. They were, for most of the season, the class of the Outhouse and then they tripped up down the stretch. These two teams met back in Week 5 when Hawaiian Punch won 120-104. These two teams, playing for the 5th Overall Pick in the 2009 RMFFL Draft, will beat the snot out of one another.

5th Place
Impact Players (Penthouse, 5-8) vs. Hirsch's Hitmen (Outhouse, 3-10)
In what is the worst possible game to be in the Impact Players will face off against the moribund Hirsch's Hitmen. To say that these two teams despise one another would be an understatement. These two teams loathe the other with so much vitriol that it is impossible to calculate. In the lone matchup between these two bitter rivals (who we will have the pleasure of seeing face-off 3 times next season) in Week 11 the Impact Players eeked out a 91-80 victory. This was one of the better efforts by Hirsch's Hitmen this season. Expect these two hated rivals to leave it all on the field.

So we are down to this: Green Bastards vs. Donfins. Who ya got? Only one week remains in the 2008 RMFFL Season. By this time next week we will have a new champion.

That is all for this week.
Enjoy Championship Week everybody.
