IT'S OFFICIAL!!!

After weeks of speculation I can now officially announce the date and venue for the 2009 RMFFL Draft. Drum roll please...........................

The date is Saturday August 1, 2009 at 12PM.

The place is Donfins HQ in downtown Hamilton.

Get ready, we are less than 2 months away.

UPDATE: I have added a Keeper & Draft Countdown Clock to the sidebar.

News From Around the League: Rumours Gallore

With less than 3 weeks left until the start of the 2009 RMFFL Season teams are jocking for position and the trade winds are a-blowing. I have heard many different trade scenarios that revolve around a myriad of topics as well as other News From Around the League.

The Donfins, yes THE DONFINS, have been actively pursuing a trade in the hopes of moving up in the draft. Word has it that they are offering RBs in the hopes of landing a top-4 draft slot. They have been in discussions with one team for sure, it'll be interesting if they talk to the other three before the keeper deadline submission date.

Hawaiian Punch have also been vigilant in the pursuit of a deal. They have contacted multiple teams in the hopes of acquiring a stud WR. They seems to be willing to part with one or two of their top RBs in the hopes of getting that WR.

The Green Bastards have been working the phones and e-mails the past couple of days in the hopes of upgrading. They have contacted at least 3 teams in the hopes of making a trade. being the defending RMFFL Champions means that they have the least amount of time to pull off a deal as their keepers are due on Canada Day, July 1st.

There has been much consternation in the Kelly's Heroes camp over who to keep. They have been seen in the HQ going back and forth on what to do. Owning the #1 Overall Selection in the 2009 RMFFL Draft (the date & venue should be announced later this week or early next week) gives them a little leeway that is not afforded the other clubs. They have been in discussions with a couple of teams regarding a potential trade, but I expect them to stand pat and not make any decisions before draft day.

The Impact Players are looking at making a deal that would see them acquire a RB for moving down in the draft. Two teams have expressed interest making a deal with them and we'll see if they decide to pull the trigger on a second trade this off-season.

I have it on good authority that Team Gonzo has fielded calls about a possible trade, but from the news leaking out of Gonzo HQ most of them have been "ridiculous." I don't expect the team with the #2 Overall Selection in the 2009 RMFFL Draft to make many moves, but never say never when Team Gonzo is involved.

After making the big trade last month all has been quiet with Hirsch's Hitmen. I know they have been contacted about potential deals, but nothing concrete has been discussed. From where this scribe sits they need to make one more move to solidify themselves for the upcoming season. Whether they make that move is currently unknown.

Very few stories have come out of the Brit Favreits' camp. From what I am being told they are currently evaluating their roster from top to bottom but I doubt we will see any trades come from them, barring another attempt to acquire Brett Favre should he decide to return. I expect them to stay quiet and try and build of a very successful 1st season.
